Sampler Puzzle #6

I’ve completed another sampler puzzle quilt. I really enjoy making these,no two are exactly alike! This one measures 46” x 55” and includes a 2” rod pocket on the upper back for hanging if desired. This quilt has sold on eBay.

I usually pick a block pattern then choose fabrics to create one block at a time. I try not to repeat any block exactly.

This quilt has a dark blue with floral/paisley outer border which I also used as the backing. I used a different dark blue fabric for the binding. This quilt was machine quilted in an all over, edge to edge abstract design with a dark blue thread.

Charming Bear Paw

This bear paw quilt measuring 95”x 111” took a while to make but I’m pleased with how it came out! I chose a navy blue paisley fabric with more of a vintage charm to it to be the focal point. I then used dark green, dark blue and two beige fabrics to create the over all vintage look to the quilt. This quilt sold quickly on eBay.

I machine quilted this one in an all over edge to edge abstract design with a dark blue thread and used Warm n’Natural batting. The backing fabric is also used on the front in the sashing.

Another 4 Scrappy Lap Quilts

Here are four more scrappy lap sized quilts made with those 2.5” wide strip packs so popular these days. There seem to be endless color combinations being offered by many companies,it’s just so hard to choose! These quilts are available on eBay,please search for Scrappy Batik Quilts.

Each of these quilts measures approximately 48”x64” making them a nice lap/nap size. I machine quilted each one in an all over edge to edge pattern with a complimentary thread color. These quilts can be machine laundered on gentle/cool settings, preferred,no bleach.

4 More Scrappy Lap Quilts

I enjoyed making the first four scrappy lap quilts so I decided to make some more! Each of these four quilts measures a nice lap size of 48”x63”. The first two are identical block patterns but I used different batik strip sets to create each quilt. I also added extra colors from my stash of fabrics to complete them. The third quilt I used an assortment of turquoise and medium blue batiks from my stash of fabrics. Each block has a common size patch in the center but I varied the sizes of the surrounding pieces resulting in a slightly wonky look. The fourth quilt was made using half a strip pack and half of a stacks pack of batik fabric with some of my stash fabrics thrown in for good measure. I machine quilted all four quilts with the same edge to edge abstract design, but each got their own complimentary thread color. I’m already thinking ahead to the next scrappy lap quilts that I will make! These four quilts are up for sale on eBay. Please search for “scrappy batik quilts”

Ursa Major

Working with some beautiful medium blue and turquoise batiks I just had to make something wintery and wonderful. I chose to make another Bear Paw quilt which is one of my favorite patterns. I think the solid white batik really sets off the “paws”. This big 88” x 102” quilt sold on eBay.

This quilt involved using a lot of those half square triangles to make the “claws”of the paws. I found a really nice batik of white printed with turquoise stars to back this quilt. I thought it was fitting since I was naming this one “Ursa Major”. I machine quilted this in an all over edge to edge abstract design with white thread.
