I made this quilt to help support Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue of Hudson,MA. This will be the second one I’ve donated to this wonderful group. I got involved with them last year with a quilt I made that had incorporated a patch of fabric signed by singer/actor David Soul. That quilt was so well received that I decided to make another, although using a much different design. You can read all about the first quilt and how it came to be here on this blog known as the “YGRR Quilt”.
I found a great golden retriever fabric and used it in the center of the stars, the outer border and even had enough for the backing! The quilt measures a generous lap size 58” x 72”. I quilted this using black thread in a design of paw prints and hearts. This one will be put up for bids on October 17,2020 when Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue holds their annual fundraiser auction. (New date: The 2020 Auction has been moved to Saturday October 30,2021.)You can find out more about this great organization and how they have been helping New England’s Homeless Goldens since 1985, by going to their web site at http://www.ygrr.org .

Monochromatic is the word for this one. I used another set of 10” pre-cut squares from Island Batiks called “Indigo Morris” to make this 85” x 101” queen sized quilt. I cut the 10” squares into patches 4 1/2” and 2 1/2” square. I then did a bit of shuffling to achieve the dark/light contrast in each block. Chain piecing got these blocks made in no time! I did some more shuffling to get the criss cross look I wanted. Blue happens to be one of my favorite colors and this was a real treat to work on. This quilt is available for sale at

I used an assortment of green fabrics to give these trees character. Each tree has a randomly placed red triangle representing a “cardinal bird”. I placed the blocks on point so that the trees would be standing. The piano key border uses the same assortment of green fabrics. I included a very narrow red inner border which helps to make the “ birds “ stand out. I chose a random swirls quilting design and dark green thread to complete this quilt. This 54”x68”, large lap, size quilt sold via a private sale.
This quilt was commissioned by a long distance customer as a gift for a new baby boy. Thinking outside the usual “crib sized quilt” box, this one is a little bigger (62”x79”) with the intention it will go on a toddler bed or be used as a nap quilt when he gets a little older.

This big jewel tone quilt was made using another strip set from Island Batiks called “Twilight Chic”. I did add in a few batiks from my stash for more variety. I’ve used this block before, but placed the colors differently for this quilt. This time I kept the four outer logs in the block the same color which created a frame around the center patches. I like the way this one turned out, makes me think of twilight time when lights are turning off or on in a big city. This quilt measures 86” x 101”. This quilt has sold on eBay.
