Mystical

There are an amazing 4,320 half square triangles in this quilt top. I used 10” stack packs called “Mystery” from Island Batiks to get a good variety of colors and the result is the diamonds seem to sparkle. This large 90”x106” quilt took longer than I had anticipated to make but it really is dazzling. I’m thinking maybe another one in white and blue might be in my future to make. This one is for sale on http://www.eBay.com,please search for “ scrappy batik quilts”.

Chain piecing was the best way to get all those triangles made. I worked in small batches of each color paired with a lavender batik for the background then assembled a few blocks at a time to insure that they all had a good mix of colors. The blocks piled up and the quilt top slowly grew.

I framed all those triangles with a complimentary darker batik and a little purple inner border. I machine quilted this in an all over edge to edge abstract design with purple thread. This quilt is backed with a pink and purple batik printed with a fun stars and moons design. Even though this one took a long time to make I am very happy with how the quilt came out.
