Northeast Animal Shelter

A box of little quilts and a lap size quilt were picked up today by a volunteer from a local animal shelter. Almost seven years ago now I adopted two kittens from the Northeast Animal Shelter located in Salem,MA. My three kitty boys enjoy the quilts I have made over the years and I though perhaps shelter kitties would find some comfort in a quilt of their own! I ended up making the quilts 20”x25” so when folded up would easily fit in the kitties’ cages, however,I’m told since the quilts could get dirty in the cages they will be put into the kitty’s carrier for a comfortable ride home instead.I used a variety of fabric scraps and yardage to make the quilts,no two are alike! I got to thinking I was leaving the dogs out,so I made a lap sized quilt with doggy themed fabrics. The lap quilt measures 50”x73”. I have given the shelter the go ahead to use the lap quilt as they see fit to raise funds for the dogs or the shelter in general. They have decided to raffle the quilt. You may purchase tickets at the shelter, winner to be pulled on Feb. 22,2022. A big thank you goes out to volunteers Rebecca and Sean for taking time out to help get the quilts to the shelter.
