Sampler Puzzle

I used some of my favorite fabrics (civil war reproductions) and an assortment of block styles and sizes to have some fun making this quilt. I mostly just picked a block style and size,put together fabrics I thought looked good with each other and let the quilt grow on it’s own. This quilt is fashioned after the “Basket Puzzle” quilt shown earlier in this blog. I like the colors and I like the assorted blocks and will certainly be making more of these style quilts.This 47” x 57” lap or wall hanging sized quilt sold on http://www.eBay.com. I used a cheerful red period print fabric for the backing and machine quilted an all over edge to edge abstract pattern with black thread. I finished this one with a striped black fabric binding.

I’m a work from home long arm quilter/quiltmaker.I learned to sew on my Nana’s treadle machine when I was around 8 yrs old but didn’t start making quilts til much later in life.I’m mostly self taught and have been making quilts for 30+ years.I enjoy making scrappy quilts and love working with batiks,but I have a fondness for antique reproduction fabrics as well.I tend to work with more traditional style block patterns but I put my own spin on them with use of fabric choices.I also do some pantograph quilting for people who want their tops finished into quilts.
